This week I have been feeling really under par, for me it's because I haven't drunk enough water. Being so busy I forgot - BIG mistake! I 'm going to share with you some suggestions on things to try if you have been feeling the same. Okay so you may not like the taste so be creative and add some flavour. During the colder months, we forget to drink as much as we do in the summer but our bodies are still working hard to keep us in tip top condition and part of the process is keeping everything hydrated. Try these.. Put the kettle on and once boiled, squeeze half a lemon in a cup and add hot water. This is best done first thing in the morning, up to 30mins before eating or drinking anything else. Lemon is a well known detox and cleanser - Great for the liver and kidneys etc. It may help keep the digestive system balanced and indigestion at bay. Add some ginger to assist the process and honey to sweeten if preferred. Have some herbal teas, there are some fab ones on the market now so stay away from the artificially fragranced rubbish or make your own. Lemon balm or certain types of mint leaves from your own garden steeped in boiling water can be great for digestion and relaxation. Read up on the healing properties of mint before making your own tea to ensure you have the correct type of mint for the job. I am not a herbalist etc so do your own research first. Pop some fruit into water. Staying hydrated helps to keep your body from feeling sluggish with zero energy, very tired, having headaches, constipated, unable to concentrate and generally under par. If you are already thirsty then you are already dehydrated! Flavoured water can be purchased all over the place so there's no excuse to remain dehydrated and you are only stopping your body from performing at its best when not maintaining hydration levels. A little known fact: If you are constantly snacking it may be that you are actually thirsty and need a drink - So have a drink of water first and wait 15mins before eating to see if you are actually hungry. Anyone with blood sugar related issues or diuretics (water pills) should speak to their GP first for advice. Something as simple as drinking more water could be all that is needed to help you feel better. Remember YOU are in charge.
